Letter to a student on differences of qualification and evaluation and differences of systems

This is a letter I wrote to a Slovenian student, and I hope it can help to understand the problem for more of us:

Hi . . . . . . . , our dear Student!

1.

school and life are different

in school the main goal is your personal development
in life the main goal is your social performance

in school we qualify each others’ activities
in life society evaluates our performance

school develops the society
society infiltrates to school

your activity is promising, you get a lot of encouragements to go on, to further on the way you are
your performance related to others in the world of dance is still not excellent, not outstanding
it will be when you find and learn how to work on in what you are better than anybody else in the world.

in the windows of the school – at performances, after each semester when audiences and entities get an insight -, and
in the doors of the school – when you step out – you are evaluated.

you are evaluated by the school
to inform you,
to prepare you what can you expect, also
to orientate the social partners what should they expect from you

our school has a simple system to orientate you:

NO
YES
EXCELLENT

In this system we say NO to your work if we are convinced that it is good for you to leave our school.
In this system we say YES to your work when we are convinced that it is good for you to continue working in our school
In this system we say EXCELLENT when we see outstanding results

I am convinced that you are able and I will do my best to achieve that you become excellent
If you want.

2.

But there is a legally fixed system to convert values among the following three systems

It means that in our grading system 1 is 'Failed', 2 and 3 are 'Satisfactory', while 4 and 5 are 'Excellent'. (https://tanc.org.hu/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/grading-system-BCDA.pdf)

In this manner the arithmetical mean value in a 10 scale system would be 5,
however we realized that according to the Slovenian system you are 'Failed' not only with grade 1 but with the higher ones as well.

To sum up, by researching different institution's conversion standards, we offered you a 6. http://www.educations.com/Grade_Conversion_Tool__d6474.html

In a scale of 10 I would give you 8 in general.

I hope the actual conversion doesn’t effect your grant adversely.

Please inform me

2. and what can we do to help you to get more money
