Tamás Bakó – Research Tasks – BCDA MARCH 2020
Blindfold
A 12 minute practice of being in blindfold in your home.
-
Have something to fold your eyes with.
-
Make sure your environment is safe to work without seeing.
-
Set a timer.
-
Fold your eyes.
-
Go.
-
Perceive your surrounding through touching, hearing, moving.
-
Take your time to notice where you are.
-
Notice the difference of being without seeing.
-
Move through your "home". (Decide previously what exact space you gonna work with.)
-
Go from one place to the other. Take time with arriving-touching-perceiving.
-
Travel.
-
Navigate.
-
Change levels.
-
Adapt.
-
Play with time and speed.
-
Observe perception.
-
You can explore your environment if you want but you can also just go by you find what you find. Make your choice beforehand.
-
Make an end. Take time with opening your eyes.
-
Take notes. Reflect in writing.
-
Share your experiences if you need to.
Forward-Rewind
A 12 minute practice of moving forward and rewinding it.
We did this task few times in the last period in different versions. According to the actual situation let's do it in your home environment this time. And let's use your daily activities as the movement resource ( for example reach and "unreach" for your coffee mug).
-
Set a timer.
-
Play.
-
Let's say that this time the work with forward and rewind is rather a trajectory than an exact choreography of playing it forward and reverse it. But you can play with different levels of accuracy.
-
Work gradually.
-
Proceed from simple to complex.
-
Begin with one movement. Then you can try shorter and longer sequences.
-
Go with the how much I can remember strategy. I go as much forward as much I can contain. The going back will be always still there.
-
Play with daily actions.
-
Use your environment. Objects can be part of it. (Don't break anything ;))
-
Play with time and speed.
-
You can try different versions of making it in a "micro" set for example at your table. Or spread all over house.
-
Make an end.
-
Take notes. Reflect in writing.
-
Share your experiences if you need to.
Millipede
A 12 minute practice of playing and experiment with support.
Find a very clean space.
-
How many legs do we have? Two.
-
But what if we consider our hands/arms as legs? Once we were quadruped, the information is there somewhere.
-
And what if my head is my fifth leg?
-
And if I subdivide, how many more "legs"do I get? Forearms. Sitting bones. Outside of the thighs. Front of the lower legs. Are there more?
-
Legs are usually good for to stand and to walk. And they are very good at it.
-
Let's play with the idea of using the different supporting areas of the body as legs. And be from one-legged to "millipede"
-
Set a timer.
-
Try out the versions of supporting yourself from different places of your body creating possible connections to stand and walk.
-
What makes me stand? What makes me walk?
-
Standing is balancing. Walking is balancing too but a bit differently.
-
Set yourself to move. Set yourself to stand.
-
• Use your environment. Stand where ever is safe to stand. Also depends on how many legs you try to stand with and what place. Travel along whereever is safe to travel. Take care of yourself. Take care of your home.
-
Play.
-
Navigate.
-
Adapt.
-
Challenge.
-
Stay safe.
-
Travel and stand. Stand and travel.
-
Make an end.
-
Take notes. Reflect in writing.
-
Share your experiences if you need to.
