SELFPORTRAITS/ÖNARCKÉPEK – Budapest Dance School in TRAFÓ – 7th MAY 2019

Selfportraits
in three acts

I have mostly rejected comments as "exam performance" or "habitual year-ending showing". We wished to present authentic dances, and we often succeeded to do so. This time it willl be a real year ending presentation. A real "selfy" shot in a pivotal instant of the school – in three acts:

1. SELFPORTRAIT 24
The concept and direction is assigned by Marcela Giesche – artistic leader and owner of Lake Studio Berlin – dancer, choreographer, teacher. Performed by the dancers of the Academy: Bitó Katalin, Meggie Blankschyn, Alja Branc, Gaja Rupnik Caruso, Justine Copette, Dániel Attila, Franziska Doffin, Debreczenyi Márton, Beste Demir, Alexandra Girbea, Halom Emma, Yrsa Heijkenskjöld, Jacsó Anna, Till Jenewein, Farkas Kámea, Jerneja Fekonja, Klausz Veronika, Kubus Kíra, Anita Kurõljova, Ivona Medić, Rita Matos, Szász Zsófia, Nina Velho, Kristina Zakernychna

Improvisation is the overall tool of the creating and performing the first piece.
The second piece is a set structure of set sequences – created by the perfomers themselves.

2. GRAND #9
Concept and direction assigned by Iván Angelus – founder/rector BCDA – dancer, choreographer, teacher.
Performed by the dancers of the Academy: Bitó Katalin, Meggie Blankschyn, Alja Branc, Gaja Rupnik Caruso, Justine Copette, Dániel Attila, Beste Demir, Halom Emma, Yrsa Heijkenskjöld, Jacsó Anna, Till Jenewein, Farkas Kámea, Jerneja Fekonja, Klausz Veronika, Anita Kurõljova, Ivona Medić, Rita Matos, Kristina Zakernychna
Music: Gabrielle Roth: Bones/Snake.

A snapshot will be made not only on the present but also on how we see the first 10 years of the school: today.

3. THE FIRST TEN YEARS 1979-1989 –  A selfportrait on how we see our past today, A snapshot on the actual state of the Archive of Budapest Dance School.
Dóri Albert will talk with Fuchs Líviával about these years of the school.

Dóri is the very best person to ask, and Lívia  the very best person to answer. Why? Because Lívia Fuchs is not only the most professional scientific expert of the era and the subject but an active eyewittness of those events. Dóri Albert is somehow on the other side, She probably wsn't born yet, but as the main helper of Petra Péter – the creator of the Archive – all documents were touched by her during the foundation work of the Archive.

A Hungarian/English simultaneous translation will be offered if necessary.

A free afternoon perfromance will be offered to schools if requested.

Sponsored/helped by: EMMI, NKA, MACIVA, TRAFÓ, MU Színház, Új Előadóművészeti Alapítvány
Special thanks to all BCDA teachers and active mentors.
