Aisté Adomaityté | 2015 –

WORKPLAN | 2015 September

I would like to share my personal plan for the next semester.
As far I was thinking and reading last year plans, would like to say that this year I feel more ready to work on creative tasks, to learn to go through all the process more productive, also to make creative work in colloboration with other school dancers, to see myself taking responsibility of it.
Of course I need to make a new steps in techniques :still need to find my basic possition in ballet to be able to do excersises, to work on speed switching in folk dance, to be more present in contemporary classes. Also to leave some personal habits that sometimes disturbs or breaks the routine.

SUMMARY | 2015 December

From the first days of new semester I felt a big difference in many aspects comparing myself with the end of the last year. I guess summer break was necessary for digesting all the information and knowleges I got last year. To give time for minds to come to the body.

First of all, I am very happy that I can catch the exercises much faster and not follow the shape but see where it comes from and what's the feeling or idea behind it. Also this wider memory helps me a lot in ballet where I need to concentrate on much more things like positions, corrections, music. Unfortunately, I am still looking for main positions in ballet class, sometimes it comes but it's not continues and the feeling in my body is still not that strong that's what's stopping me from steping forward. In the beggining I felt extreme challanged to be in Tibor class but now I already got into the rhythm of it and I realized that I needed to be braver to try things out, to trust myself more and fully energize my body. I think after this semester my self confidence level increased a lot. Also HB projects and work with Csaba Molnàr affected a lot.

The other thing is my body posiotions, I feel that my body shape is changing, I have much more control in it hut my hands very often are without any energy and kind of apart from the whole body picture.

My last observation was during the folk dance. It's pretty hard for me to speed up. When the steps comes to the faster rhythm I'm getting lost in my legs and starting to feel quite heavy but teacher already told me how should I got over it.

To sum up, I think it was very productive semester and as I see myself more and more clear Im very inspired to work on.

TEACHERS' EVALUATIONS | 2015 December

Lőrinc Katalin: I think, you should have more self-confidence!!!!!!! Probably there are too many new informations here for you, and you need to  concentrate very hard to be able to digest everything. You have some very beautiful movement  qualities, so: trust yourself! Of course, your body is not too easy for Graham-technique but I keep telling: you may (and you have to) adapt each information for your own body, for your own person. And,  you have to dare to say if you don’t understand something. It is so nice to see, when you find the right solution, and you move beautifully and it makes you happy as well! I think what you’d need is a bit of strenghtening. (Muscles and soul.) Go for it!

Hód Adrienn: you were there and there were times when you were not.

When you're there, you work concentrated. Your body has strengthened, more precise and more flexible. It gets more "mature". But you could not build a process because of your absence.

Bakó Tamás: I think in terms of coordination and posture work you made quite some improvement compare to the previous year. You are also better by now of remembering material and sequences. But there's still a lot to do on understanding details and realizing conections (coherence) aiming precision grasping the differences of qualities and executing permanently what you already know. Please, less getting lost! You have nice working attitude I see devotion and engagement that's one strong backup what you have naturally let's keep that and trust a bit more!

Szonda Fanni: I think it was a good semester. In one of our lessons you formulated well what you should improve in: not how to learn a piece, but how to perform that. How to be confident in it? We will work on it!

Marco Torrice: she had a nice approach to the work, as well a nice awareness of what’s going on inside and outside her.

I want to encourage her to pay more attention to her alignment, to direct energy out of her head and chest, and especially to work on her self confidence. I actually believe that all these things are strictly connected and her alignment is, in a way, a metaphor of her being in my class and vice versa.

She had the tendency of mixing often up a mechanic of a movement with a quality (ex: isolated movement mechanics=fragmented quality). I generally appreciate a lot more intuitive approach, especially on people who generally tend to be too much analytic. Nevertheless is our own work to subvert our movement tendencies in order to enrich the range of how we can move.

Mészáros Máté, Horváth Nóri: very good attitude on the classes, positive and willing. You need to improve the speed and strength in your body. Also work on the ability to translate the information given on the class.

Kováts Tibor: Aisté has improved a lot. She is able to work very nicely if the exercises are simple and easy to remember, and she is able to focus on the execution of the movements. Her sharing of attention and general body control sometimes is not adequate. If we do more complex exercises, her body can fall apart completely. She has beautiful Demi and Grand pliés because of her loose hip joints. Although she is not good enough at certain tasks which would need more skilful performance. In these cases she doesn’t seem to believe that she is able to do it some time. She needs to improve her attention span, concentration skills so that she could improve continuously.

WORKPLAN | 2016 January

First of all, while I was overthinking myself and reading teachers evaluation I realized my biggest disturb for moving on is myself confidence. I think now when I got deeper into learning process at least comparing with the last year and I have a very possitive and supportive atmosphere finally to step out of this state of mind which is something like comfort zone for me but the truth is that is totally opposite. And I think it could change a lot of things what's still not coming into my body and connection with it : qulities, concentration, more complicated things that I am not able to do but at least not to fall apart and to let it go. I feel it's already time to be able to do more complicated things on different aspects like structure, speed also physically.

Also I really feel that my body should get more strenght and able to be faster keeping it together. It's especially for ballet and folk dance classes.

And I will repeat one thing that was mentioned in the previous plan about working on the creating process, to discover myself by trying things, creating tasks also manage to work with group of the people.

There is another thing that I was thinking about is that I would like to replace myself with Katalin in the piece I started to make last period because it's too complicated to be inside and at the same time to work from the outside.

And here is the Brahms cello sonata no.1 in e minor op. 38 music that we were using and still holding on it.

SUMMARY | 2016 June

In my personal "student evaluation" I would like to say few most strongest and important things which I experience this semester.

First of all, Im very happy to realise that my presents and body awareness increased a lot and it's bringing me to very different level of experiencing working in class, seeing relations around, being on stage, experiencing the moment without any interferences and the actual power of it. I think it's a very first happenings but now I can put everything in the whole picture and work with it.

The body awareness, deeper sensation first of all came with believing and accepting idea about being a dancer, being watched, trusting the way you are at the moment. After it sank in to the brain, it came through the body and the process started like creating your personal images and imagination vocabulary for my body to understand. Also body knows much more than I think and the only thing I need to trust it more. Also exploring all the single body connections but keeping it like the whole gave me much more surface for moving and feeling the move.

Creative process with the others, was a big challenging experience, starting with my own piece and Proxemika group rehearsals. I learn a lot how to manage the time, to make it productive. To be clear about what do you exactly want to say to others to understand you and also to make them listen.

TEACHERS' EVALUATIONS | 2016 June

Kováts Tibor: Aisté has improved a lot comparing to the previous semester. She concentrates much more now. She needs even more self-confidence, faith and endurance to trigger a more spectacular and permanent improvement. She is a very nice person with good vibes. Her turns, jumps and coordination requires lots of work to invest. Patience, will and practice-practice-practice! Thanks a lot for her work!
About the group: In the second semester I managed to get know the personalities, strenghts and weaknesses of the students. Their professional performance was not well balanced, in other words their accomplishments varied a lot. Only a few of them is capable to acquire all what they were taught, therefore the exercises and the steps have to be repeated again and again. We carried out much less than I had planned to. The group is split into two parts: some students improved permanently and consistently, while the others did not. The latter mentioned ones obstructed those who were motivated and focused, because we could not dictate the same tempo for all; in contrary, we had to re-start and always repeat the same class materials.

Bakó Tamás: I have seen nice progression in the last period. Your work of this year was a good dancing. Clearly you have a better understanding of the connections of the parts of the body in action. Posture and alignment looks different, I feel that you are more skilled physically and have a touch of the sensation of full dancing. Since you have some experience of your motion capacity and availability of being present at each place in your body, gradually you could encourage yourself to add dynamics. The differentiation of the states and the use of energy will be the next area to recognize and develop.

Keep up the good work!

Cseri Péter: She had started the semester with a severe back pain that hopefully was treated and even recovered since then.

Apart from this, she took part very actively in all the classes. Once or twice she decided to sit due to her back. She is attentive, constructive, critical, but ready to try out everything. Her skills in coordinating her body and the relation with space should be developed more. She asks a lot, communicates well.

Horváth Nóri és Mészáros Máté: You have improved a lot physically, you move more precise then before and taking the comments faster. We felt that your energy and enthusiasm was lower then usual and this had consequences in your work. Your focus was less sharp and you did not work as hard as before.

Szemessy Kinga: Excellent

The lots of misspelling in your essay report me about the conditions in which the homework was written: in rush and/or with a bit negligence. In contrary, the content of the writing is exciting and engaging. It is a great instinct you have to question frequently used terms as ‘new’ and ‘old’, but collect enough courage to bring your doubts further, and to continue your investigation from different perspectives and with various tools.

My impression is that you had a very tiring year, and also multitasking (thus complying well in several exercises) might be challenging for you. This is not a problem, but a difficulty to face with. I remember you several times starting to describe an extremely interesting idea, a new approach, or arguing in favour of something, but then in the middle of your sentence you tend to cut your words and remain silent. ‘No-no, I can’t explain, it does not matter’ – you said. What makes you to hesitate and to keep being distanced? You should not be afraid of expressing an opinion, even if you fail making the others understand you for the first time. I think you have a very good base in regards both practical skills and theoretical knowledge, but it would worth to start your last year with taking risks and to challenge yourself. Grasps everything that you haven’t yet done. Look for modalities that shift you out from the comfort zone. Encounter with all that are strange. Being in school is the right time for doing it, because it provides a secure framework. I am looking forward to witness all your try outs.

Sessi Krisztina: Aisté, you are a person who is improving herself very well in big silence. Your sence of rythm is getting better and better, also the steps, I feel your body is merging with the folk dance. You should be braver in improvisation and believe yourself you are capable to do the excercises.

Szonda Fanni: I am very proud of you, because you improved a lot this semester. You started to listen the way you play the piano and you tried to get the best out of that. This is more than just playing all the notes of the piece, this is art. Of course we can always be better and better, but I hope you feel this big step in your piano studies. Keep on doing this way! Thank you for your hard work throughout the year!

WORKPLAN | 2016 September

As we decided I'm going to finish this year fully being part of the school without any unneeded absences following last year experience which actually brought me to the other mental level, when you go over all the negative states, getting to know how to keep up working on different mental and physical conditions and keep yourself healthy in both of the cases.

Definitely looking forward to get new information as to recover and strengthen knowledge which got before  from technical classes. I would like to teach myself to go till the end with material, not only to understand and to try but work until the end and finally be able to do it and use it like part of vocabulary. Talking about comtemporary, modern, partnering and mostly ballet classes. Also ballet this year is another case which Im curious and motivated a lot to make a step in the direction of fixing and improving material I already have, be able to use it, not to think about separated.

Also would like to build up a new routine to become a bit stronger but im sure we gonna be loaded with exercises which gonna help and gonna stay like a daily routine.

The other big half of me and my work gonna be directed to creative work, also developing new qualities and experiences. Having last year creation feeling more self confidence and even more inspired to try other interests, to create on my own and also in collaboration with the others.

Aiste's extra feed back on her teacher's work | December 2016

Hod Adrian

I feel her classes, tasks gives a lot of freedom to dive in our personality, even the tools are very mechanical and the stucture is simple and clear. Everytime I find challenges, how to break some barriers or how to deal with mechanics and mental state of mine or surprises which are coming very often while improvising. Getting to know myself and to know there is more and more depth.
That's why it was great having classes for longer time, I felt that it was enough time to complete some of my own chalanges or to bring out unknown side of me. Also she has a great sense of balancing how much to challenge to keep it up the process always on top and step further.

Cseri Péter

Technical side of class was challenging a lot and brought some new physical experiences just a lot of time in general I felt disconnection between teacher and our group, working very much apart, not understanding and feeling each other.

Mátè & Nori

Very alive dynamics, step by step composed classes and the whole process. Clear instructions, a lot of personal corrections and inspirations to go over fears and discover pleasure of the momentum. I felt pair changing system was useful for our group not only for having different physical  experience but also not to keep it too personal in between the people which breaks the general concentration of the group.

Tamás Bakó

Im surprised how many different ways and sensations possible to build up for one thing/ class to reach the same goal. Sometimes just in the end of a class unexpectedly I realised the whole logic of coming to the end, I felt that classes were build very creative. Also I appreciate awareness of people and open approach which invites to work.

Batyu

Im always sure that teacher is coming with the same active energy and knows how to keep the group energy. Professional self confidence let's to keep class in a mood but there is always requirements of high awareness and concentration. I like that everybody is seen and get's personal corrections as much as possitive comments.

Kristof Varnagy

I felt very new and useful to start ballet classes from the very basic ideas which is in general basics behind any technique or movement. Approach of falling fully into our bodies and having a decision of moving, not being moved by a shape of movement or "chance". Slowly buiding up the inside sensation made it much more real and stronger. All the process had a surprising continuity which we were lead to experience, to create freedom for ourself behind technique.

Even if our group is combined of people with a very different knowledge and experience but we are able to work from where we are and move together. The general atmosphere is very open healthy and realistic in a sense we are invited to try, to fail, to find and share things while being aware what's happening with us.

Zsuzsa Rozsavolgyi

Very positive and simple energy which makes all classes work easier. Always joins to do the class fully with us, there is no barrier between teacher-student but that's where comes natural respect. It's very clear the way she pass on instructions and makes connection for more difficult parts. Very open to share and help.

Best, Aiste

SUMMARY | 2016 December

TEACHERS' EVALUATIONS | 2016 December

Bakó Tamás: You have great working attitude, filled with joy and ambitions. By now your practice involves a wider know-how of a larger context of dance. You started to benefit from your experiences and provide them on a daily base. It's getting mature and integrated what you do. There is a stronger connection and control between the parts of the body, set-up and movements. A fuller postural integration. The experience of your growing motion capacity makes a new phase in your dancing. Each action looks organic and round. Keep up the good work!

Szonda Fanni: pieces by Bartók have really special atmosphere and not too many people love and understand these music. I am so happy we can deal with many of his pieces with you. Thank you for your work!

Hód Adrienn: Azt láttam, h kezd a sok tánc tudás tánc közben szervezett tapasztalás összeérni a testedben. Sokkal erősebb és kontrolláltabb a munkád, kapcsolatod a testeddel. Energia szintben végig jelen voltál és kiegyensúlyozott volt a munkád. I see that your dance skills and experiences started to mature within your body. Your work and your relation with your body is much stronger and controlled. Your energy was always there and your work was balanced.

Cseri Péter: General notes to all 2016 autumn students and now to the individual material:
Aiste Try not to give up too soon. You can still afford to give yourself a few more chances and fail again and again if need be. Pick yourself up. You have everything to be great!

Szemessy Kinga: General notes: Comparing to what we are used to with and what facilities we have, this was quite an extraordinary class setting with 17 students participating. In some occasions it caused very exciting roundtable conversations unfolding how differently we perceive the same problems, while other times we could just barely keep the energies together and giving space for everyone’s ideas. However, even if in this kind of setting it is easy to disappear, in general I did not experience this attempt from the students’ side. We dived into notions and theories around “naturalness”, “freedom” and “self”, and studied about various dance practitioners who were investigating these terms in the 20th century. Except some cases, the quality of the presentations were either appropriate or high, and the essays show nice results as well. I’d call it a good start for the newcomers, and a worth-while and in-depth revisiting of materials with those we had class last semester.

Aisté! Even if I felt you sometimes being enervated, you are still among those students acting as driving forces for the group. I could not expect much more from a senior students in regards supporting the group dynamics, so thanks a lot for this behaviour and please, try keep it like this.

About your presentation: Your theme is quite hard to deal with as it has enormous amount of literature, but the field is still lack of clear definitions. It is a pity that your slides were not working well*, but I quite liked the way you had introduced your classmates to the somatic practices, and also how you’d made a slight link to the next topic, contact improvisation.
*Don’t leave tasks like this for last minute, and try out speaking out a presentation in advance…!

Grade: Excellent

Mészáros Máté, Horváth Nóra: You had a difficult moment after a lift that went wrong. Because of this it was hard for you to keep developing on the same speed like you did before. You improved your coordination and became more brave with the lifts, keep up the good work.

WORKPLAN | 2017 January

First of all what I need to do the most is to get stronger in my upper body and especially arms also I feel need to go deeper in understanding my body from the inside, to rise awareness of inner connections, processes, to find out where is a problem (if there is) and how to deal with it. By inner awareness I also mean stronger center and rooted movements.

This period I also want to work a lot with improvisation, looking for different approaches to it and how to leave it "true" and how to bring it on stage.

Also I would like to step further with contemporary technique, to be able to bring it to more complicated level in physical meaning (it's connected much with stronger center and general strenght).

As a very important thing I found is a constant/controlled moving state, would be good to work on bigger awareness and time scale of keeping it.

SUMMARY | 2017 June

This semester was one of the most intense and in a way deepest in digging in and understanding my body like individual and setting up the tools how to be better friends and work together like one. How strange it sounds but now I personaly understood why it’s good to have an injury experience which takes through so many different state of mind, opens you up and brings closer to holistic “body” “mind” idea. I think the biggest achievement was founding “neutral” state like a dancer, for more productive training and also preventing injuries which is a very tricky thing – separation between physicality and emotional level of it was very important in my case. And it can easily close in the endless circle of negative and “unhealthy” set of mind. It just showed me how many layers there is for opening up and I think it’s still so far to go. The other strong idea that I started to follow this semester is knowing that everything is already in your body, it just needs to be found and of course practised. It gave me some kind of direction and not losing the way in concrete situations/classes but having a further step or bigger space for developing. In a practical way I felt that single moment has much more time in itself for awareness, movements, breath and space. Moving fully with natural energy rebounce, trusting the body without constant control or with tinier level of control wich is more about directions not about movements by itself, helped me to drop forse, tension, to create more time and energy. Especially I felt it with ballet and folk classes which were in some period more stressfull, now it’s the one I enjoy fully.

I had a great help from Emese who is my mentor too. Few notes from her after watching a class helped me to see myself a bit from the outside perspective what is hard but very important in training period. It kind of put things together to realise your techniqal side and gaps in it like missing connections between standing level and going into the floor which I was never aware so much of and worked more separate but it’s already a part of “work plan” also with the tools and suggestions she gave. And what I mean it’s more to keep the same flow and fluidity of body while changing levels, not getting blocked, tensed or create new energy for it.

TEACHERS' EVALUATIONS | 2017 June

Várnagy Kristóf:

Dear students,

A little introduction to my feedbacks.

As you will see I haven`t gave feedback to some of you.The reason for this is if I see that you are on a clear process than I don`t want to interfere. Meaning that I only wrote feedbacks for those of you, where I am not quite sure either about your operations or about the benefits of your actions.

Aiste & Brigi

Altough it got way better over this year I will still highligt it, that you lack trust in yourself to really do what you have to do. The trap being cautious is that sometimes -in my experience most of the times- you have to have a certain momentum to carry out your plans, whether it is a movement or project or what have you. Cautious vs aware. I would rather be aware.

Everyone

If one thing I would address though to everyone is the mixed experience I am having about you, knowing you as students at Goli vs seeing you and your work on Nowness, Vimeo, Facebook etc. Sometimes it seems like two paralell universe. I know whatever institution you are part of has a set structure you have to respect, however I feel that in some cases you restrict yourself with those rules instead of working with them, and you are loosing some of the genuine yourself on the process. Mostly I missed your humour -which I now know you have. Why so serious?

Otherwise I had a blast working with you all and wishing you a great summer or a fantastic career for those are leaving the school!

Szemessy Kinga: Good vibes, openness and delicately straightforward questions are those you always brought to the classes. I feel lucky to had the chance teaching you.

Szonda Fanni: I will really miss you! It was nice to meet you, and I wish you all the best! I think you can already play many pieces really nicely on the piano, so show this to the world even if you just simply play on the piano on an airport. I wish you to enjoy it!

Szegedy-Maszák Zsuzsanna: During class discussions Aisté raised questions, suggested topics to discuss in the future and clearly paid attention. I believe she has a keen interest in the visual arts and has solid skills in critical thinking. Her essay entitled Fluxus and Jurgis Mačiūnas was a very well-written, long paper with quotes from the artist. She is open and curious, a pleasure to have in the class. I wish her well in her future artistic pursuits.
