CSESZLAI HANNA

WORKPLAN | 2017 September

Első féléves munka terv:

-bal oldalamon dolgozni

-gyors mozdulatok fejlesztése

-levegő vétel

-pontosság

-nehezebb zongora darabokat megtanulni

-részletesebb mozdulatok, apróbb részletek

-erősebb jelenlét

SUMMARY | 2017 December

TEACHERS' EVALUATIONS | 2017 December

Angelus Iván:

Dear Group A members!

In general I can tell you that you – the group as a unit – seem to have built up a good balance of keeping your individual development in the centre and the same time, learning how to know more abut each other and how to accept each other. Sometimes it will be good to be more independent and proactive to encourage each other a bit more to organize, accept and focus on open possibilities, potentials, obligations, time frames, deadlines, etc. If the group is more efficient, everybody's own efforts will be more efficient. (And vice-versa.)

Anyway the time  – four months or more – of assimilation, integration should have been finished. Once you know and understand the local processes, methods you should concentrate on the successful use of them in order to reach your own goals, why you joined BCDA. This process will be complete when you finish the first year, a full study cycle.

Iván

Kedves Hanna!

Enthusiastic and curious group, lots of questions, comments and input. Some are very knowledgeable on art, others seem to have some difficulty relating to some of the subject matter (biblical, mythological and historical narratives). Class discussions are sometimes so lively that we run out of time and are unable to finish the material I wanted to cover during the given class period. The atmosphere is mostly upbeat, although I understand that sometimes after several hours of physical workout it is hard to suddenly sit down in a dark room and listen to a lecture. Overall I have the impression that most of the students would rather have more visits to exhibitions.

Clearly has a strong background in art studies, likes to share her knowledge, great class participation.

Tijen Lawton:

Unity of the body as a whole, as a personality, that needs to be further investigated and nourished by finding strength though understanding that your body working on the floor and your body standing and moving in space are the same, organising your body as a surface, as a core and in it’s extremities .A lot of the work is in analysis of detail and risk taking.Continue work on connectivity throughout the body, using both the body as a whole as well as in extreme detail to be able to elaborate with further elements and dynamics.

The body sometimes looses its physical energy and dynamic when the mind takes over too much. Do not loose this thinking with the mind, but try and work together with the physical thinking and the trust you can find in the physical intelligence. Work on this connectivity through out the whole body through a form of body consciousness that allows for strength, abandon and control. Bring the floor support to standing work and find a more powerful core, by investigating further your upper/lower body connection. Work with the ground even when you are standing and moving in space to be able to elaborate further with detailed risk. Think about the space you create with your body. Risk the abandon further, find and understand the control through your core and extremities and then deviate. Really looking forward to continue this research together.

Mészáros Máté:

Javítsd az általános erőnlétedet. Nagyon jól alkalmaztad a tanult technikákat.

Marco Torrice:

The group was generally really attentive and communicative, carrying on a light concentration and opening an honest and efficient space of questions and observations.

She was pretty fast in taking the movement material of the exercise, as well as of  the phrase. I encourage her to keep focusing on the mechanics that produce this or that movement and not just on the shape of it.

Szonda Fanni:

Dear Hanna,

I am happy to work with you! It’s hard to write a feedback after a couple of hours, but we all have goals and we are on the right way to get there! You are all enthusiastic and it’s really good. Thank you for your hard work!

Lemesánszky Mónika:

We had a great group this past term, where everyone was motivated and listened to instructions well. I really hope you can keep this up next term as well.

Lábbal pontosan dolgozol,általában a gyakorlatokat is tudod.

Szemessy Kinga:

In general I found you being a very intrigued group with trust and curiosity towards me and the class content. Keep these good energies and the curious listening to each others.

You were active and committed in the classes. You are attentive and find your ways to interpret the material unfold the logic of the work. You are a gifted mover your dance comes from an authentic place. It gives you a safe ground. And improvising is not new to you. But the aspects and concepts of this form comes with new perceptions and experiences. Follow your questions and observe these new ideas. Find and explore the potential of the form.

WORKPLAN | 2018 January

SUMMARY | 2018 June

TEACHERS' EVALUATIONS | 2018 June

Lemesánszky Mónika:
General notes to the group: The group worked well together all year and had good energy throughout.
Personal notes: A második félévben sokkal jobb energiákkal dolgoztál. Bátrabb és dinamikusabb lettél. A gyakorlatokat tudod, korrekciókra is figyelsz.

General notes to the group: Group A's cohesion, general level of demand, work intensity is far from an efficient state. Low levels are very low, higher levels are not very high. Differences are big and do not converge. Tasks mostly remain asks: both on individual and on group level are almost never completely fulfilled. The acceptance of mediocrity is a danger. The often tired and depressed atmosphere + the lack of successful initiatives, playfulness, joy doesn't help successful learning.
Talent is still present, strong motivation is there on the level of words, but persistence, diligence, high energy, stability, concentration, health, self demand are missing from daily practice in general.
I have added a short categorization: Excellent, good, weak, failed. All refer to your actual state as a prospective contemporary dance performing artist from my point of view as your teacher. Do not accept, improve.

You are active and committed in the classes. Your dance has its own logic and characteristics. It gives you vocabulary and ground but perhaps this is also what bounds you at the moment. It has a strong input and make it accessible in a way that you can incorporate new approaches, patterns, materials takes some time and work.
Recognizing and acknowledging details, understanding better sequences, clarity on sides, being more precise will be an important step towards gaining more understanding and developing technic. Coordination, relationships and arranging of the body parts according to each other, differentiating the sides, orientations in the space has to be further investigated.
Good work!

Szemessy Kinga:

Tijen Lawton:
Focus on connectivity and awareness…a mindful training of the brain and body.Challenge the physical intelligence, strength and movement capacity.
This is an intense a difficult way of working, it takes time, and the results are rewarding and can create a versatile dancer or performer. Therefore patience ant persistence are essential. Work is needed to continue to find the centre and grounded force through connecting the extremities of the body through the centre and using the floor work to establish a base of strength and support. So using the transfer of weight in the floor work and searching for all possible points of support and resistance…combining fluidity and strength and then incorporate it into standing work and moving in space.
Your understanding of her own qualities seem clearer and sharper, thus being able to search for diversity in her dynamics and qualities. You work with great determination, great attitude and beautiful energy.Keep up the good work and I look forward to challenging some limits together.

Joe Alegado és Csasznyi Blanka:
General notes to the group: We would like to make a general comment concerning the students. We feel that, even though each of them are individuals with different needs and capabilities, as a group, we find them to be very inspiring and supportive of each other. Whenever one person is missing from class or is experiencing a difficult time in life, the others step in to create a support system by helping with movements from class or with words of encouragement. This communal approach is a very positive step in the direction of resolving issues arising from misunderstandings in movement concepts and principles, or life situations. As mentioned before, each student has individual needs and capabilities. In the Alegado Movement Language, there are very basic principles which, when discovered, can determine the quality and focus of every individual’s source of movement. One very basic principle is the acceptance of gravity and its effect on the quality of the movement. The dropping of the head in its forward descent to the basic curve, is one of the principles we have chosen to focus on. As a group, we have seen progress in the students as they have begun to embrace the idea of surrendering their weight to gravity. This action has accomplished several things: 1) the conquering of fear 2) the effect on each student’s plie 3) the student’s ability to use that plie in shifting the pelvis 4) the application of a strong and active core and how all of these elements are applied to translate into a musical and physical expression of the body through movement. This has been a focus in class because, in doing so, it will help resolve the difficulties a dancer has when trying to access their deepest, most organic connection to the earth. When this release of the body’s unnecessary tensions happens and their weight begins to fall without fear, the student’s ability to risk grows, their awareness is heightened, their musicality is awakened and their confidence in moving through space becomes a natural force of energy. We will now continue by using these class objectives as the basis for all comments.
Personal notes: Hanna is a very nice mover. She is also a risk taker yet, the risk taking sometimes takes her into unknown territory where she doesn’t have an answer for her next transition. But, we are now seeing progress in this respect. One of the reasons for this could be her higher awareness of her core actively working to save her after moments of risk taking. All in all, her progress has been constantly moving upward to the point where her movement qualities are becoming more grounded and, consequently, more organic.

Szonda Fanni:

WORKPLAN | 2018 September

Plan for the First period:

I have a wish to work on my creative project 2 or if its needed/possible 3 times a week. We have a lot of work to do and I want to be focused as much as I can on this project. I’m really motivated toward this project and I wish to keep this motivation throughout this period. Last year it was hard to maintain because of my health, but I know it came from fear. I overcome this in myself and now I feel stronger than ever.

I want to maintain my strength with cardio dancing and ab, thigh and arm strengthening exercises. I want to give a little or a lot of time for this every day depending on what I can take or how I'm feeling that day. I want to build it up starting with shorter exercises with breaks between. By the end of the period I want to be able to do 10 minutes of burpees, pushups, planks, squats with jumps and situps without stopping.

Plan for the Second period:

I see if I can maintain working on the project this period too because from this angle I feel this needs more time for digestion in the dancers and in me.

Continue the strengthening exercises but go up to 20 minutes without stopping.

What is a plan for the first semester:

I feel I found my place in the group and my communication became much fluid with the others. I know there are going to be hard days when its hard to speak to anyone but I try to be as kind of a human being as I can. Help others on my way and give lots of love! Smile more because you have a reason!

Be able to recall the details as well as the principals from the classes so I can work on them in the Individual work.

Stay in good health. Take vitamins and magnesium more.

I have to strengthen and message out every day my ankles, foot, and calves to be able to do the rehearsals and classes in the school.

My knees started to hurt so I need to take a care of them every morning and before intense work.

Work on the coordination and placement of the body during dance improvisation and combinations. Be more stable on the legs and be more confident in using your whole body and limbs too.

Let go of fear but don’t reject it when it comes just try to accept and work on it to go where it needs to.

Find more fun in improvising and contact dance, try to not stress too much if its „good” or not, just find your own way and happiness.

In contact dance give more weight, but consider if your partner is ready for it or not.

Play more and stress less. It will probably help me find new ways, new movements, and new states/feelings.

SUMMARY | 2018 December

I feel this semester was my best yet. Compared to myself I wasn’t missing really classes. I know I have a problem with my arrival in the morning but I’m really working on it, mornings are the hardest for me. I was really working hard to achieve what I want from dance, from myself, from this journey. The last period I was writing everyday the diary for IW and when we had the general rehearsal so we couldn’t do IW that day, I seriously felt something is missing. It became so much a habit and I want to do it because I love to train and feel the need which is important. I appreciate with a lot of sensibility what I’m doing and I love to feel this. I love dance and I have a huge respect for it. It formed me so much and I love myself more and more because of it. I love challenges both physical and mental ones and this job gives me both and never lets me get bored. I feel I’m on the way to achieve my destination which will always go one more step further than me. This preparation for the performance was so much stress by the end but so much more joy after. I really feel good on stage but I need much more experience.

TEACHERS' EVALUATIONS | 2018 December

Várnagy Kristóf:
General notes to the group:
It is my general note, not only to group A-B, or C but for the whole of the students, that it is a heartwarming how you grew into a good and functioning community. It is great to see you supporting each other.

Personal notes:
I feel you have started to develop your own system of values, which is of course necessary. You are as well always welcome to express your opinions, however, your persona should not get into the way of your own progression. Generally speaking, don`t get personal over technical questions, and whenever you practice critical thinking, make sure it is pair with constructive communication.
Note: none verbal communication is communication too, such as facial expressions, gestures, posture, etc.

Angelus Iván:
General notes to the group:
In this semester I had the chance to meet all of you in the three main territories of our school: 1. sharing new information, 2. developing your creativity, 3. developing your social skills. I feel myself and you successful in point one and two, and I have hard time at point 3. with all of you. This is because of the social environment surrounding us. Solving this difficulty is the task itself. The level of cooperation and sincereness is that makes difference in the common success.

My short evaluations will be strict and related to your development related to school requirements:
I will tick Excellent box at who are developing well, basically in harmony with school guidelines, hopefully will reach their goal to become a professional contemporary dancer.
I will sign Satisfactory/Good at those who could make (much) more in their own sake.
I will sign Failed at those who do not live with their possibilities and should change their attitude in order to become more successful or to those who are on the right way to find their own direction that may be out of the school's profile. It can be considered a success too. Failed may mean you have to work on your trajectory out of school or it may mean to stay in school but work on a higher level.

Personal notes:
Kedves Hanna!

Hullámzó a teljesítményed, ami visszaveti a fejlődésedet.
Remélem a következő félév hatékonyabban fog eltelni! Köszönöm a munkádat!

Urvi Vora:
General notes to the group:
After my brief, intensive interaction with everyone, I have very much enjoyed reading the diverse essays from all of you – very different approaches, levels and processes. My feedback is focussed on your essay and I hope it helps you think of how to push it forward from here as there is always much more to do.
Good luck with all your future plans and upcoming work in the school! It was wonderful to see all your thoughts turn into something on paper!

Personal notes:
Please send a PDF when it is specified!

I appreciate the personal reflections and thoughts on stamina and motivation in dance training. You touch upon the importance of the right balance of these that make a big part of any dancer’s life.

I am wondering how you would categorise this essay – what exactly makes this philosophical? It is important to make that clear to me as a reader. While it is very organised, it lacks a clear argument based on validity rather than personal experience, making it very difficult to make too many comments. How can this study be made more objective?

Further, one must always be careful while making grand generalisations. You use the word ‘you’ many times in the essay, but you don’t really know of my experiences. If this are personal, you should say ‘i’ or ‘me’ instead of that to not fall into this trap. Also, what is the reason that you are making these statements? Is this your class experience? Did you friends experience the same? Do explain to the reader why this is the argument being made.

I encourage you to make it sharper by thinking about how every sentence fits in your larger argument.

Bakó Tamás:
You did a very good job in the classes. You were committed and hardworking.
I perceived more stability and trust in the organization of the movements in the last period. Relationships of the body parts according to the whole, directions of the movements and their spatial relationships, orientation in general are better understood and organized. I saw the attempt and progress of relating to the material more and the coming understanding of its logic.
Agility and intention meets more the task and focus. Good work!

MENTOR'S SUMMARY | 2018 December

WORKPLAN | 2019 January

I want to continue on doing the work I started and try to evolve day by day. So it's not too much information on the body and the mind but a very complex work. I want to listen to my bodies needs more. When I feel pain how to deal with it. Mostly I know but I want more attention on it.
I want to train handstand/headstand and acrobatic movements/tricks. Just like last semester everyday, so the progression really can implante in my body and brain.
I want to chalange myself with difficult movements with a lot of physicality when I’m doing improvisation. But I allow myself to do anything that my body needs in free dance.
I will use the same principals or quotes as in my latest work plan.

SUMMARY | 2019 June

WORKPLAN | 2019 September

Technical work plan:

Creative work plan:

SUMMARY | 2019 December

I had downs and ups. I say it like that 'cuz I left the downs behind and I concentrated on the ups in the second period. I feel super good although I had a lot of body pain in the last two-three weeks which took me thought to understand my body better and how to deal with the pain while working. I'm very grateful to be a part of the creations. We worked hard on finishing and it was a great experience how to make small detailed corrections in the last-last minute.

In regard of technicality, I managed to work on my calf and ankle muscles to the fullest, maybe even too much.

I'm still standing with my thought that I personally need more floorwork training in classes. Don't take it in the wrong way I'm really grateful for the creations. I just feel I need more specific training to help me be better in the upcoming creations and to build on my knowledge. That kind of floor work when you're pushed to use every inch of your abdomens, legs, and arms.

I'm more stable and work more precise than at the beginning of the year. With this, I don't mean I can’t progress more. I mean that all I do and work for I want to work on until the end 'cuz I wish to be better than yesterday and that's a goal to live for.

I'm satisfied with the work I did and I wish to continue in the second semester with an intensive work ethic also.

TEACHERS' EVALUATIONS | 2019 December

General notes to the group:

Dear Students!

The goal of the regular written feed back is to help both teachers and students to get a different perspective on your daily work, to get a wider time frame on your development including where you come from and where you go to. The feed back has three parts: general notes to the group, individual feed back and assessment.

You may not know the table that compares and explains different assessment systems we have shared with your teachers as well:
https://tanc.org.hu/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/grading-system-BCDA.pdf

Concerning the work we have realized together this semester I think that it was efficient by it's regularity, discipline, sincerity. You know yourself how deeply, but I can tell in general you seemed to follow the values and guidelines offered by the school. Some of you were more active others less but nobody ignored and went against these possibilities.
This fact was reflected in your successful presence you performed in the three pieces presented in Trafó, where ALL the participants of each dance could show their maximum, and it's level was pretty high in general.

Congratulations to You, and thanks to your teachers!
Iván

Personale notes:

General notes to the group:

I am delighted with the work of the class, both on the individual and on the group level. This first half of the year has been characterized by focused, intelligent work. You all had different struggles. Some, on the physical, some on the mental&spiritual plane. But I appreciate your hard work and resilience, how you faced your problems and insisted on solving them. Therefore, I am going to award the whole class with excellent grades. Each one of you deserved it, but for different reasons: some for better technique, some for the systematic, consistent, persistence work. I am giving you all the trust, that it will be a stepping stone into the second half of the year, and that you keep up the spirit for the second part of the season. Stay focused on your goals, stay sharp.

Personale notes:

Érdemes a tánccal foglalkoznod.

Bakó Tamás

You did a very good job in the classes. You were committed and hardworking coming back from the injury.
I perceived more listening and trust in the organisation of the movements.
Relationships of the body parts according to the whole, directions of the movements and their spatial relationships, orientation in general are better understood and organised. I saw the attempt and progress of relating to the material more and the coming understanding of its logic.
Agility and intention meets more the task and focus.
Good work!

WORKPLAN | 2020 January

I wish to work on all the same points as I wrote in September as well as on some others. That means to work on stability, training strength and deep muscles. Work on articulated movements and be precise throughout the classes.

I wish to go deeper into floorwork and discover new ways of going into the floor and coming out of it. E.g. Handsfree using other limbs.

I feel very motivated to start dancing and I want to keep this up.

On ballet and folk classes my intention will be to keep my body light and not get too fixed/clenched about the movements individually but see it as a whole, because that's working for me on the long run.

To concentrate on pulling up the leg muscles from the top of the leg which disperses the power throughout the whole of the leg. This will hopefully help the muscles to be less tired as it's not concentrated on just one pinpoint.

General notes to the group:

Mindenki a saját szintjének megfelelően teljesít (maximálisan). Ehhez ők is kellettek.

General notes to the group:

Dear Students! I think your group as a group could build up itself and you reached a very high level of cooperation by the end of the year: You have learned a lot from each other, You helped each other, You accepted and supported each other. The life was calm and moderated, even tempered. That is good for the calm development, accumulation. you did it and learned from it. The same time I think that you haven't gone really close to each other, didn't lived big cathartic moments together, you tolerated and respected each other so much that you were allowed to do anything, may be nobody would warn the other if anything happened. May be I am wrong and it happened time to time, just I remained out of those exciting, red-hot flaming situations, so valuable for an artist. May be you had them somewhere else and not in the school. The life in school was free from the active ignorance of the rules of cooperation, and active adversary actions. I gave more space and time to mistakes and omissions, misunderstandings, and it was very much up to you if you lived with certain possibilities or you missed to profit from them. I think it was a good strategy. Who and when wanted, to do something could learn from it, and who didn't want or couldn't was allowed to loose that possibilitiy. It's very good to know that (almost) all of you seem to find a good solution for the next year, I think we could encourage and help you. With the 7 of you we have to speak about the next year's common tasks and possibilities. I will be strict about my evaluations.I think you ALL developed a LOT, and you ALL can SUCCESSFULLY further develop. When I evaluate your development satisfactory or excellent I make a difference of how far you could get if you did everything possible. Especially with last year students I also wished to relate your actual state to an external general level of a beginner professional dancer.

Personale notes:

General notes to the group:

This special period was a great opportunity to develop your own working methods. As you can see, circumstances can change quickly, so it is worthwhile to create a system in which your professional life can remain constant. The individual work you further develop and extend into other areas of your life will make you independent of world conditions. Thats the true power and freedom when you draw your path with your own hands … and it's persistent, continuous, never-ending work. Enjoy the flow!

Personale notes:

Lehetne hangosabb a mozgása. Lendület és dinamika a fókusz terén is.
